SeaSaw

The kids are finally using the SeaSaw in the back yard. I love this thing but for some reason they never wanted to get on it. But the last couple weeks they have found out how fun it can be

Abriella walks from one side to the other working on her balancing

She asks us to stand on one side so she can walk up and jump off the other side

And Abraham thinks it totally HILLARIOUS when Abriella pushes off hard and makes him go down fast. I love it!

Big Helpers

I love how my boys already love "helping" their papa on the cars and around the house. I look forward to the bonding that will develop as they get older. This is my husband's new toy, he totally makes me laugh. This little car is an 82 diesel Rabbit, it's 27 years old! He absolutely LOVES the thing. it is totally loud, has no heat, no AC, no speakers for the radio, no back seat and he totally loves it. The thing is so light I can push the thing all by myself. I call it his MicroMachine.

In the mood for some soup?

Have a Soup Swap!

A couple weeks ago a friend and I had a Soup Swap at my house. It was so much fun and I wanted to tell you all about it so maybe you might have one too.

We invited lady's over for an afternoon and asked everyone to bring a pot of soup, copies of the recipe, and an empty container. We provided a few snacks like cheese, crackers, grapes, and a huge bowl of Caramel Popcorn.

I sat out little bowls and spoons and after everyone got here we sampled the soups as we wanted while we visited and had some wonderful conversations. It was a wonderful and filling lunch. After we were all done I put the names of the soups in a basket and we all drew for the pot of soup we would be taking home that night. And then everyone went home with a stack of new soup recipes! What could be better than lunch with friends, dinner already made, and new recipes for the winter :)

One of my favorite soups was a Lentil Soup and I wanted to share the recipe with you. I hope you don't mind Christine :) I am making it right now for Abriella and I to enjoy for lunches this week.

Lentil Soup
1/2lb Lentils (rinse)
3 Cups Water
3 cans chicken broth
1/2lb orzo pasta
1/2lb frozen baby lima beans
1 diced carrot
1/2 tsp rosemary
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp celery salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
Rinse lentils and put all ingredients in a large pot except for the pasta. Bring to a boil and then simmer for about an hour. Put past in about 15 min before you are ready to eat, make sure to stir well. Add extra water for desired consistency.
Serve with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.

My Silver Surfer and Super Man

The Crossfit gym that Sam works at had a Halloween Park workout yesterday morning. The members were to dress as a super hero or villain. It was so much fun. Sam went as the Silver Surfer, Abe went as Super Man, and Sam's friend joined in as Hulk. There were a lot of people and the workout was fun. It involved tossing pumpkins around, men sweating off their face paint, and Zombie Tag.

I thought I would throw in this picture of my sweet little boy. He pretty much just went hunting for sticks.

I'm a sucker....

for these blue eyes

and his love for cars. Or is it my love for cars? Who cares, maybe we both love cars because when I see them I always want to buy them. And that is why when I saw these Micro Machines at a friends yard sale I quickly hid them so I could buy them :) Have you ever seen Micro Machines?! They are soooo much fun. We have a car wash and a parking lot, boats, and trailers. I think I just might love them more than my boy.

My first assignment

My friend and I started a photography class last week. We'll have 8 classes to learn how to use our cameras better. I'm so excited to be able to take even better photos of my kiddos.

Our first assignment was to take a picture of someone in front of a sunset and have them both exposed correctly.

Last night I went to a friends house where she gets the privilege of having this kind of sunset in her back yard every day

I didn't get Abriella exposed quite right here but I love the picture.

After the sun had gone down my friend took this picture of us. It was such a beautiful night.

Hot Tub Fun

Life has been very busy lately.
I just thought I would show you some fun pictures from the other night at a friends house. It has been so cold here this past week and Sam and the kids got in the hot tub. They had a blast! My crazy husband then decides to jump in the cold pool :)
After that we made smores over their fire. A great night with good friends

Dancing in the Rain

I love letting my kids play in the rain! So during this down pour of a day I jumped when the kids asked to go play in the rain. They had a blast and were completely soaked.

This kid cracks me up daily with his choices in clothing.

Two thumbs up dude :)

These last 3 weeks

In no particular order...

We have been eating yummy after school snacks

We have been trying to get into a good school routine

I have been enjoying my time with the boys

I have been enjoying wonderful talks with Abriella after school

We have been struggling to get into a good after school routine

Attitudes have been pretty strong around here

Emotions (in me) have been going crazy

Abraham is now sleeping with no diaper (whoo hoo)

I have hardly taken any pictures

Abriella started Gymnastics

Our womans bible study started back up and it is wonderful

We have been going on after dinner walks

I started walking again with the boys (the weather is beautiful)

I am down to my pre-Abriella weight but can not loose this baby belly

God has been working on my heart in so many areas

Ethan got 2 more teeth. He now has only 4

Abriella started riding the bus home and she loves it

Ethan can now go up and down stairs and loves to be outside

I caught up on Greys Anatomy and am supper excited for season 6

I am currently re-finishing 2 dressers for our bedroom

I am getting stuff together to have a yard sale

And to be completely honest it has been a rough few weeks with moments of pure Joy. I am so thankful that God loves me even when I have doubt in who I am and what he has for my live. I am thankful for the people he has put in my life. I am thankful for the husband he choose for me. And I am thankful for my 3 beautiful children. I have so much and I need to humble myself before him every day, every hour, every moment.

I'll miss you!

I just wanted to let you know that I will be taking a computer break for a little while. I need some time to focus on other things. So I won't be blogging, face booking, or even reading stuff. I will miss you and will let you know when I'm back.

I'll leave you with this goofy picture. He was watching us while we took Abriella's 1st day of school pictures. I just love this boy :)

Abriella's 1st day of School

Sam took the morning off to be with us on this day. We were so excited and sad at the same time. I guess that's what happens when your 1st child starts school. It was a great morning getting ready. When we got to the school we walked her in, we let her find her class room and we walked in. She found her name on her seat and started coloring and we left.

The day went by, Abe and I mad chocolate chip cookies and we went to pick her up. I don't really know what I was expecting but she made me cry as we drove home. She got in the car and the first thing out of her mouth was "That was Awesome mom! I can't wait till Friday when I can go again". I'm so happy she had a wonderful time but at the same time I wish she would have missed me just a little :).

I'm so proud of her and how outgoing she is. It's hard sometimes but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My Boy is 3

My Abraham turned 3 on the 24th. These 2 pictures totally show what his personality is like to me. I love this boy! He is such a sweety and has such a caring heart. The beginning of 3 has been a little rough for us but I have a feeling this faze with pass by pretty quickly with him.

Abraham,

You are such a little daddy's boy and I love to watch you two together. You LOVE McQueen cars and have a hard time parting with them. You crack us up all the time with things you say or do. You love playing with your sister and now that she's in school I can tell you are missing her. You adore your little brother and your always trying to play with him or make him laugh. You just showed us last week that you can sing your ABC's. You can count to 10. You have no idea what your colors are and no matter how much we try you just don't get it right now :). You still have a clothes and shoes fetish but it has defiantly gotten better.

I am so excited for this next year. To spend time with you and watch how you grow. You are a precious little boy and we love you soooo much!

My baby is One

Today, a year ago, at 2 am my little baby was born.
I couldn't wait to see his little face.
We were blown away by how beautiful he was and how light his hair was.
Ethan, you are one of the sweetest babies anyone will ever meet.
You smile non stop and love everyone you meet.
You have amazing white hair and gorgeous blue eyes.
You are ticklish EVERYWHERE
You love your blanket and go to sleep with excitement
You started walking at 11 months and are trying your hardest to keep up with your brother and sister
You love throwing balls back and forth
You LOVE to play with cars and trucks
If you see laundry or pillows on the floor you will lay down on them and roll around
You help me find the kids during hide and seek
You now love food and do great with bite size pieces
You only have your 2 bottom teeth (when are you going to get more?)
You love practicing going up and down steps
You have an amazing love for dogs even though you are allergic to them
You weigh a little over 24 lbs
You love to cuddle
You let me rock you to sleep when I have the time but do not get dependent on it
You fall asleep on me during the worship at church almost every Sunday
You have fallen asleep in the pool and the ocean before
You say Mama and Hi
You are always saying "doo da" ?
You will hold the phone or remote to your ear and say hello
You play peek a boo by covering your ears
I swear you said Abriella today :)
You are very loud and love to yell to get peoples attention
You wave hi and goodbye
You sometimes give a kiss by butting your head into ours
You love the beach just like your mama
Since we are here in Rhode Island we celebrated his birthday early so that Sam and the rest of the family could be together. I made chocolate cupcakes and his memer made beautiful blue icing. I sat him in this red wagon and brought him his very own. We sang to him and he picked up his cupcake without any hesitation.

He wasn't too sure about it. He took a few little tastes, made some funny faces, and then just decided to squish it between his fingers.

Abraham had a great time licking the frosting off his fingers though :)

He adores his cousins and we couldn't be more thankful to have been able to spend this time with them.

Javen's Baptism

This little hunk is Javen. He is our 11 yo nephew (sam's sister's oldest son) and so very special to us. He has an amazing faith and is excited to learn more about the Lord and has been excited about his Baptism for about 2 years now. We are so proud of him and even more thankful that we could be here on this special day.
It was beautiful. A huge part of his church family came to be witnesses. The kids all played in the water and then EVERYONE got in to be there with him as we prayed and watched as he was Baptised.

Thank you Javen, we love you very very much and are so excited to be with you again in Eternity!

A county Fair with a 3 year old

It's amazing how going to a county fair with 5 children can bring out the kid in you. I had such a good time! I got the wrist pass and went on the rides with Abraham for his first time. He was scared on some but at the end he would inform me that he had fun. And of course we didn't leave without having a fried dough (aka: Elephant ears in Washington state)

He loves his cousin Javen!

Our Trip to Rhode Island

Friday morning the van was loaded, the kids were in their seats, Molly (my 17yo passenger) was ready to help me with the kids, I had my directions and maps, and we said goodbye to Sam and were on our way by 9:45. The plan was to make it right outside of Baltimore, get a hotel with a pool so the kids could exert some energy, and go the additional 5 hours the next day. Sounds easy enough right :)

We were loaded with drinks, snacks, and movies for the trip.
This was our second stop where I got gas and found this grassy area where we played tag, stretched our legs, and found some sticks to chew on.

Molly was a huge help. She fed Ethan for me and helped me with the kids. I just love this picture, she didn't know about the whole "swipe the spoon" part of feeding him.
Everything was wonderful until about 5pm when Abraham started getting whinny and we hit traffic. I was trying to push it as far as I could but the traffic just wouldn't give and the kids were getting hungry. Abriella started complaining of a stomach ache. They then fell asleep and I knew I needed to get off at the next exit to get a hotel room. We got to the hotel at 7, praise the lord they had a pool and it only cost $10 more than I wanted to pay, we went to the store where I ran in to get a rotisserie chicken, came out to find out that Abriella threw up, finally got to the pool at 8pm and into the room around 9 o'clock.
The kids had a blast swimming and playing in the hotel room. The excitement on a child's face when they ride an elevator or find out that they are sleeping in a big room with 2 big beds is just priceless. We finally went to bed around 10pm and we slept pretty well.

Day 2 consisted of our Continental breakfast, finally back on the road at 8:30am, a few stops to stretch and go potty and then more traffic. We didn't get to the house until 6pm.
What should have been only a 13 hour drive turned into an 18 hour drive because of more stops than I would have liked and 2 hours each day of traffic.
All in all I think the trip went amazingly well. I really missed having Sam with me. He is usually the one driving and we kept each other company. With out him there was like a huge piece was missing. I can't wait for him to get her on Thursday! But I am super thankful for Molly being on the trip with me. Driving home by myself is going to be a little more tricky I'm thinking.

Our mystery date

Our wonderful friends handed us 3 envelopes last week and informed us that we needed to drop the kids off at their house one night and follow the directions in the envelopes. We had no idea where we would be going but we knew it was going to be a blast. These two are just crazy like that :)
So we planned it for tonight and sadly their daughter got sick so we had Molly watch the kids for us. So I wanted to make sure to take a few pictures and tell you all about our mystery date.
We opened the 1st envelope and saw that we were going to dinner at a place we have been wanting to try for a while now. So we gathered the other 2 envelopes, said good by to the kiddos, and we were off.
After an amazing dinner of...
Spring rolls w/ shrimp
Yellow Curry w/ Beef
A sushi Roll
And some great conversations.....
we opened our second envelope and found this hilarious note:

Did you notice the "Snuggle close and KILL KILL KILL"? That's Anne :) I just love her!
So we did, we wrapped our legs together and killed those dino's!!
It was a blast!!!
Then we got in the truck and opened our 3rd envelope.

We went and got coffee's but unfortunately didn't have time to go to the beach. However we did make sure to have a wonderful conversation about how God has truly blessed us in so many ways.
(I forgot to take a picture of us drinking our coffee's)
Thank you Anne and Scott! We are so blessed to have your family in our lives.

We have had the pleasure of having Molly visiting us this week. She is Sam's cousin from RI who flew down here on Monday and will be driving with me and the kids to RI starting tomorrow. She has been a ton of fun and we will miss here. We are both excited for the 2 day drive to RI though, it's gonna be fun!

When one of your cars breaks down

The good thing is that sometimes you can borrow a friends super cool, totally beach style, awesome colored jeep. Take excited kids for a ride. And sometimes the mom can go for a drive by herself to feel her hair blowing and feel younger.

The bad thing is that you will have to give this vehicle back because it is not family friendly and you have to make decisions about what to do next. Decisions are not always very exciting.

Chances are....

.... If you hear funny noises from Abraham in the car it's because he's getting Ethan to laugh.

....If we are loading up into the car the kids will ask for Curious George (jack johnson cd)

....If I have to say no to Ethan he will laugh and keep trying to do it.

....If you come to my house tonight you will here the ice cream maker in the kitchen making Chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks and almonds

....If you look in Abraham's drawer his clothes are a complete mess because he changes several times a day.

.... If you look in Abriella's drawer it is clean because all she wears are the dresses hanging in her closet.

.... If you find my husband lying on the floor you will find me right there with him soakin up some hubby time.

....If you see my hair you will notice that I now have highlights.

.... If you see me working out in the garage I am having a great time doing it.

.... If Sam is home Abraham is following him everywhere he goes.

.... If it's dinner time we are having some kind of chicken dish.

.... If it's lunch time you will see how much I dislike deciding on what to feed my family.

....If you look at my calendar you will see that the kids and I are going to RI next week for 2 weeks.

....If you see us rushing to the mailbox it's because we are waiting for our possible future to arrive.

.... if you look at the pictures around my house you will notice that I still haven't had any developed since Abe was a baby.

.... If you look at my floors you will see that they are finally mopped.

And if you liked reading this you can go Here to read more or let us know that you did this also.

My Sister

My sister and her family were here for 5 days and we had a great time showing them around Wilmington. Jackson is 4 months old and I miss him so much already. It stinks having nieces and nephews so far away!!! I want to be around them all when ever I want.

While they were here I got to cuddle him, rock him to sleep a few times, and make him belly laugh for the 1st time ever. It was wonderful!!!

Some of Jackson's firsts was going to the Zoo (which he slept on me in the sling). He went swimming for the 1st time, he got to be in a loud house of 3 other children, he tasted watermelon, and he visited the beach where he got his first taste of salt water and sand :)

I miss you guys already and I hope you had a wonderful time.

First Steps

So here he is doing some squats :) He started standing on his own a while ago but just recently started to squat/dance and make himself laugh.

I can't believe he's going to be 1 in a month and a half. 2 days ago he took 1 step for me and I caught this other video. Then yesterday he took 4 steps in a row. And then today he just moved his left leg so he ended up going in a circle :)

And please! try not to listen to me. I started getting annoyed with myself. And sorry, I don't know how to flip the video around.

For those who don't know, you'll need to pause my music. Just go to the bottom of my side bar and hit the pause button.

House Cleaning

I've been thinking about chores a lot today. Probably sense I feel like I have a lot to do and I really don't have the motivation. And if you didn't think I was slightly weird I'm sure will will after reading this post :). Here is what I like and dislike about house work.

Dishes
I find doing dishes by hand very relaxing.
I think drying dishes is a complete waist of time and won't allow it to happen in my house. They can just air dry around here.
I love loading a dish washer, It's like a puzzle to me, I get as much in as possible.
I really, really, really despise unloading the dishwasher!!!! I don't know why but I really do!

Laundry
I go crazy through the house picking up clothes to wash. I love loading and drying.
I don't mind folding the clothes.... as long as I don't have little ones messing them up
I love hung dried sheets but can not hang my towels out to dry, I just don't like the feel of them.
I really don't like putting clothes away. If I were to ever build a house I would have a huge laundry room with closets and a folding table. Clothes would go from the dryer to the table to the closets in that room with out ever leaving. Who needs clothes in the bedrooms anyways.

Floors
Vacuuming I love, Mopping I dislike!

Windows
Can Not Stand washing windows

Dusting
don't mind at all and I love to windex mirrors (so why don't I like windows?)

Organizing
I love to organize as long as it involves putting EVERYTHING into one BIG pile and organizing from there. I'm not good at the organize as you go thing. Oh, and I have to be able to throw stuff away!

My fridge and stove top have to be clean (just don't look in my fridge right now)
And things have to be in the right place in my fridge. If it's not placed back where you got it from it drives me crazy. I am not that way with the rest of my house though :)

So there you go! I thought I would give you a glimpse into my mind. I hope you'll still love me.

Tell me some of your crazy cleaning habits so I don't feel alone please.

Lifetime Memories

I'm still here, I've just been busy! We have been enjoying North Carolina's summer at the beach and pools. I've been working out with my hubby. Abriella had swim lessons and VBS. We've enjoyed hanging out with wonderful friends. We've had company and lots more going on. I haven't even been taking many pictures.

But I leave you (hopefully not for as long) with this and a picture of my sweet boy.

Lifetime Memories...for Our Children
by Dr. A.D. Witham.
Pause with your child-when others hurry by;
Walk with your child-when others are running;
Talk with your child-when others prefer shouting;
Listen to our child-when others appear preoccupied;
Smile with your child-when others can find only frowns;
Play with your child-when others prefer to be entertained;
Praise your child-when others can find only fault;
Learn from your child-when others have forsaken curiosity;
Dream with your child-when others have become cynical;
Read with your child-when others prefer television;
Pray with your child-when others have lost faith;
Apologize to your child-when others pretend perfection;
Discipline your child-when others fail to establish limits;
Hug your child-when others fail to sence the power of touch!

Jobs Jobs Jobs

Work is a funny thing sometimes. You have a job/career, you may feel lead in a different direction, other job opportunities open up, or you just want a change. You pray, you search for answers, you find contentment, and then things can change all over again.

We have been in the process of Sam changing careers for over 3 months now. There has been a process and it's been taking a long time. While we have been waiting there was another job opportunity that Sam was waiting for to open. Several weeks ago we were really praying and gave the whole situation over to the Lord. Asking that which ever one came together 1st would be the right one.

Well, a couple weeks ago the 2nd job opened up their application process. The application process was only open for 1 week. Sam submitted his resume and today he got an email notifying him that his resume has been forwarded to the selecting official. I find it all so interesting. I thought for sure that the 1st one is where we were supposed to be heading, I felt peace and excitement about it and the future. I could see where God was guiding us in that directions. And now, since it's been taking so long, I can see that maybe God has been guiding us to the 2nd job. How do you know what your supposed to do.

There is such a mix of emotions for me. Both jobs have pros and cons and are on completely different levels. I'm not at a place to go into details here on the blog but we would just love to have prayers for what God wants in our life. That we can focus on Him and not have blurred vision.

I'm excited to see where we will be in a couple months and a little scared about it all also.

One busy week

My dad and Maureen got in last Tuesday and left this Tuesday and let me tell you, it was one busy week :). Neither of them had ever been here so off we went to show them Wilmington.
In the 7 days here we spent 3 of them at the beach. It was wonderful!!!
We took a ferry ride to Southport to walk around and have lunch.
We went to Friday night at Mayfair where the kids got to play and we listened to music.
They watched the kids for us one night so I could surprise Sam with tickets to Jars of Clay in Myrtle Beach. We went with some great friends, had dinner, got great seats to watch the concert and just had a wonderful time.
We went blueberry picking and Ethan got his first taste of ice cream.
And we spent an afternoon at the park and Gran Pappy took the kids for a paddle boat ride.
It was a busy week but we had a great time. Thank you Gran Pappy and Nana Mo for coming to visit!

The Birthday BBQ

We all had such a great time with friends and family. There were around 12 kids here and they had a great time eating yummy food, great mud cake :), playing outside, and roasting marshmellows.

Posted by Picasa

THE birthday cake

Abriella started asking for a M&M birthday cake 2 weeks before the day. So I decided to make a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and let her go to town decorating it with M&M's.

Well, are all you bakers out there wondering why it looks the way it does ?
The night before the party I made the cake layers, and I made the other carrot cake and everything was getting done in perfect time. And then..... I FORGOT to take the cakes out of the pans! They stayed in over night, Sam's mom made the yummy frosting, we sat down to decorate it and then we realized the cakes were not going to be coming out of the pan like they were supposed to. Jackie did a wonderful job with what I gave her and she turned it into a mud cake :)
After I let go of my perfectionism I learned to really love the cake. Abriella LOVED it, She had a great time decorating it (and eating the m&m's of course), and she was proud of it. That is all that matters! Oh, and ALL the kids loved eating it :)

Humbled

This past week has been tough for me for some reason. I'm just in a mommy funk and trying to snap out of it. Do you ever get there? Just not in the mood to be mommy for a day or so? I hope so, I don't want to be the only one. But I was humbled today through a few moments with Abriella. She has such a beautiful heart. It's hard to see a lot of the time, but there are times when I know we are doing a good job and not waisting our breath.

She has been wanting to paint for a while now and I don't know why but I have just not gotten it together. So today I finally did and it was beautiful! She made 5 very detailed paintings and the smiles and fun they both had was so well worth it all. She drew her 1st picture and told me it was of me because she wanted to be just like me when she got older. Through all that I have been this week she still wants to be just like me?!

Then, after her quiet time, her and I were laying on the floor playing with Ethan (she REALLY loves playing with him). She looks at me and says "mama, while I was laying in bed I had the best thought. Every morning after breakfast we should do a bible study and I will be a good girl every day!"

Well Abriella, I think that is a wonderful idea and I know God is speaking to your heart and for that I am truly grateful!

And here is a picture of the beautiful smile I get to see every day. He melts my heart, my whole family does!
